There are three important Volkswagen models that will hold the spotlight this summer. Cool cruising and a sporty look becomes available with the 2007 VW Eos, off-road adventures continue with the tough Touareg and ladies will enjoy the thrilling experience of driving a New Beetle Convertible. Let’s have a look at all three models and see what they promise to offer and why they are VW’s coolest cars this summer:
VW Eos – an amazing coupe convertible produced by Volkswagen since 2006, the Eos got its name from the Greek goddess of wind. And you will be able to fully enjoy the wind by driving along in this sporty convertible. With some elements borrowed from the B6 Passat and the Mark 5 Golf (such as the platform and wheel base), the Volkswagen Eos does have a unique folding hardtop. While the folding roof is impressive and also offers a sunroof, it does take up most of the storage space in the trunk when folded and is also quite slow to fold up or down – it needs 27 seconds to do so. You can select one of the following engine types for the Volkswagen Eos:
- 1.6-liter, I4, 85 KW (115 hp) gasoline engine, manual-6 gearbox (Europe only)
- 2.0-liter, I4, 110 KW (150 hp) gasoline engine, manual-6 gearbox (Europe only)
- 2.0-liter, I4, 103 KW (140 hp) turbocharged diesel engine, manual-6 gearbox (Europe only)
- 2.0-liter, I4, 147 KW (200 hp) turbocharged gasoline engine, manual- or DSG-6 gearbox
- 3.2-liter, V6, 184 KW (250 hp) gasoline engine, DSG-6 gearbox
VW Touareg – the Touareg was declared the best luxury SUV in 2003 by the Car and Driver magazine, a distinction that was later followed by awards from Motor Trend and the Four Wheeler magazine. The Touareg is the result of a collaboration between VW and Porsche, with the common goal of creating a luxury SUV that feels like a sports car on the road. Yes, as many people believe, the Touareg is not a proper off-roader, however it does have some excellent cross terrain capabilities. If you do want to take on the toughest terrain, you only need to fit some proper off-road tires.
3.2 L 240 PS (177 kW, 236 hp) gasoline V6
3.6 L 280 PS (206 kW, 276 hp) gasoline V6
4.2 L 310 PS (228 kW, 305 hp) gasoline V8
4.2 L 340 PS (257 kW, 340 hp) gasoline V8
6.0 L 450 hp (331 kW) gasoline W12, 599 N•m (442 ft•lbf)
2.5 L 174 PS (128 kW, 172 hp) diesel I5/R5
3.0 L 225 PS (165 kW, 225 hp) diesel V6, 500 N•m (369 ft•lbf)
5.0 L 313 PS (230 kW, 308 hp) diesel V10, 750 N•m (550 ft•lbf)
VW New Beetle – Another hit from Volkswagen, the convertible Beetle is probably the cutest choice for a cabrio for the summer of 2007. This veritable pop icon is the most popular with the 2 liter gasoline engine, and your biggest concern while selecting your new Beetle is what funky color to choose.

Porsche 959
By: Jan Hvizdak
Porsche 959; The car with 4260 mm in length, with 335.6 kW output at 6500 rpm and torque of 501.7 nm at 5500 rpm is one of top sport cars ever manufactured.
Let’s get back into 1981 when Helmutt Bott, Porsche’s head engineer, began developing the Porsche 959. His idea was to create a sports car which was based on the 911, but took the classic model to a new level in terms of design, performance and technology. Bott’s proposal was to maintain the rear engine setup, upgrade to all-wheel drive and test the model in racing competition.
The resulting 959 was not made street legal in the US until 1999. The US Department of Transportation required four vehicles for crash testing before they would grant their approval of a model – a request which Porsche were not prepared to meet. With the removal of the ‘Show and Display’ crash test requirement in 1999, the NHTSA passed the 959 for street use, on the condition that catalytic converters be fitted and changes be made to the mirror configurations. The refusal of a number of owners to cede to these extra demands means that many examples of the 959 remain museum pieces rather than street legal cars.
Engineering and design
The Porsche 959 is constructed from an aluminium and kevlar composite, allowing the vehicle to be strong yet lightweight. The rear boasts a 2.9 litre engine which powers all four wheels. The engine was not new – instead Porsche used their existing twin-turbocharged, six-cylinder Boxster powerhouse. It produces 450 bhp, with assistance from an air-cooled block, water-cooled cylinder heads and four-valve heads, as well as the turbocharger.
This engine had already seen action in the Porsche Indy Car, the ‘Moby Dick’ racecar and, of course, the 961. The powerful engine and lightweight design propel the 959 from 0-60 mph in an astonishing 3.6 seconds, topping out at just below 200 mph. Speeds this high raise stability concerns, which Porsche answered with finely tuned aerodynamics, suspension and ride height. The result is surprising stability at the top end of the 959’s capabilities.
The advanced all-wheel-drive Porsche-Steuer Kupplung (PSK) system allows for variable distribution of torque between the front and rear wheels. This capability helps the weight-distribution bias to remain stable under challenging driving conditions such as wet surfaces or heavy acceleration.
A racing classic
In 1983, Porsche introduced the 961 model. It was a version prepared specifically for racing, and won the Paris-Dakar Rally twice, in 1984 and 1986. It also achieved a respectable seventh place in the challenging Le Mans 24 Hour race.
Following the success of the 961, the street version 959 was released onto the market in 1987, at a price of $225,000. Whilst this price tag may seem hefty, it was a bargain compared to the cost to Porsche for developing the model. Production of the 959 ceased in 1990 after the completion of 226 European street legal vehicles.

Volkswagen Brief History
By: GirlsPassion
When people talk about Volkswagen, the first thing that usually pops up in their mind is the ever-popular Type 1 or Beetle model. The German-based car manufacturing company first entered the scene during the late 1930’s when Adolf Hitler asked Ferdinand Porsche Sr. to design an automobile that would be more accessible to the common man. The result was the very first Beetle (known that time as the KdF-Wagen), which despite only having less than 200 parts, served as Volkswagen’s foundation throughout its history.
After the Second World War, the company fell into disarray but bounced back when British Army Major Ivan Hirst took over the felled factory. This came after American forces handed control over to the British. The Beetle was once again put to production despite the damage brought on by the war, with the Wolfsburg factory producing around 1000 cars per month.
As Germany started recovering from the aftermath of WWII, Volkswagen would further grow and break into foreign markets, most notably that of the US automotive industry. Volkswagen also ventured on other projects, releasing the Type 2 or Transporter, a van based on the design of the Beetle. Despite the shaky start, the Type 2 and the Beetle became the front runners for Volkswagen throughout the 1960s to the 1970s with Volkswagen releasing updated versions periodically. The mid-60s was also the time that Volkswagen started acquiring different subsidiaries, effectively making it the Volkswagen Group.
From the 1970s and onward Volkswagen has also released several other models like the Golf, Polo and the Passat with varying degrees of success and with the Golf as its mainstay model. It wasn’t until 1998 that Volkswagen decided to go back to its roots, releasing the New Beetle, a design which was based on the Golf chassis but retained some similarities to the original, providing a huge boosts to the brand up to the present.
Much of Volkswagen’s prominence can easily be attributed to the staying power of their first model, the Beetle. Originally an economy vehicle, the classic Type 1 sported an air-cooled engine, making it easily customizable and came with durable and easily repairable parts.
The use of VW Parts are not limited to the Beetle alone, as other companies have collaborated with Volkswagen or used Volkswagen Auto Parts and components to produce their cars, like the Porsche 914 and 914-6 and the Porsche 356.
VW Parts were also provided for a series commercial trucks under the joint venture between the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and MAN AG, whose production was from 1979 to 1993.
Finally, other industries also found use for VW Parts, specifically the Volkswagen air cooled engine, which found action on many experimental airplanes during the 60’s. In Australia, the engine was used in rather odd ways, powering a ski lift for the Thredbo ski resort in New South Wales, and also modified as an air-compressor for some remote mining communities.

Land Rover – A true SUV
By: Lance Dixon
The Land Rovers are originally British vehicles and have a manufacturing unit at Solihull in England. The first Land Rover was made in 1948 in England itself. It was designed by Maurice Wilks. He is known to have been inspired by an American jeep that he had seen at Wales. The first car was in fact itself called the Land Rover. But as time progressed, Land Rover became a brand that took to manufacturing newer cars under it. The Land Rover has passed through many hands, from the Rover group to the Premier Automotive Group, which is a part of the Ford Motor Company, and currently owns it.
If you hear the Land Rover’s rich history, you are sure to exclaim, “The Land Rover almost sounds like best out of waste!” And the reasons are plenty. The body of the Rover is very light and is made from an alloy called ‘Birmabright’ that is made from aluminium and magnesium. This alloy is extremely rust-resistant. These vehicles were in reality, forced to be made from aluminium, as they were made in the post war periods, where there was little steel and surplus aluminium available. This alloy was also found to be softer than steel and so could bend and mould easily, requiring less number of tools. Another peculiar thing about these cars was that, the earlier vehicles were mostly of green color. This was due to the excess of green paint available after the war! The military used this color to paint the aircraft cockpits! Who would think that a world class SUV would have been made in such a way! In fact it is said that the Land Rover was designed just to keep the Rover Car Company busy during the depression period! This first model was a simple vehicle, primarily made for farm and industrial use and was made such that it could traverse all terrain. The car was highly functional and could be cleaned fully when dirtied. It was even bulletproof! The Land Rover was first showcased at the Amsterdam Motor Show and was an instant hit. It attracted the entire world and the media played an important role in this. Even the non-motor magazines gave the car lots of coverage, making the car reach beyond its target customer group.
Many of the Land Rovers have been extensively used by the military due to their durability and sturdiness and astounding features. Endurance of these vehicles can be judged from the fact that many of the cars that were made at the time of the Land Rover’s introductory period, are still driven by people or appear at various shows or are being used after a little bit of restoration! This just shows that a Land Rover is certainly a lifetime investment. They are considered to be one of the safest cars to travel in and will never let you down.
1970s saw the dawn of the luxury Rovers that had all the features of a premium car besides the trademark ruggedness. The Range Rover (the first in this category) was so good that it is the first and only car to be kept in the Louvre museum at Paris as an exemplary form of modern sculpture. So much for the beauty of the Rover! It is simply incomparable. Range Rover was initially a two-door version but when its sales picked up it was made a four-door one. Increased demand and popularity amongst people, led the Range Rover to advance to better versions like the Land Rover Discovery, Defender, Freelander-which is a landmark by itself.
The Land Rovers have a fan base in the film industries across the world too! They have featured in many films! Land Rover celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1998.
The various well-known models of the Land Rover are the DISCOVERY3, FREELANDER2, DEFENDER, RANGE ROVER SPORTS and RANGE ROVER VOGUE.
Despite being premium cars these cars have high maneuverability, are very fast, work astonishingly well for long distance travel, can withstand any kind of torture and are amazingly safe! If you want to experience what a true SUV is like, the Land Rovers are your best option.

Hybrid And Electrical Cars
By: Paul Roger
Government legislation is making it a priority for many countries to become more environmentally aware with regard motoring. Low carbon, cleaner vehicles are now being manufactured to meet these targets. Not only is there the issue of climate change to consider, but the ongoing unrest in the oil rich countries. Also consider the increasing gas petroleum charges.
We are still a while off to having a proper workable alternative to petrol/gas…but many car companies, notably Honda, Toyota and BMW have made great advances in their research and development of hybrid vehicles.
Toyota is aiming to have all it’s cars as hybrid vehicles by the year 2020. Currently it has the popular Prius model which was the worlds first of it’s kind when it was released in Japan. The Toyota Prius reduces emissions by around 70%.

Since then we have seen the Honda Insight and the Honda Civic Hybrid, Honda Insight and the Honda Civic Hybrid. The 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid has received great reviews from satisfied customers. This is the way forward for sure.
The electrical specification is a 158-Volt, 5.5-Amps/Hour Nickel-Metal Hydride Battery
Fuel Type/System
Hybrid Gas/Electric / Multi-Port Fuel Injected
Standard Engine
1.3L I4Standard Transmission
VAR Speed AutomaticCylinders
4Horsepower @ RPM
110@6000Torque @ RPM

There can be no argument hybrid vehicles offer greater fuel efficiency than gas powered alternatives. The less fuel being used the bigger the reduction of pollution in the environment.
For many people living in large cities for example, the more hybrid vehicles seen on the road the less harmful emissions in the atmosphere. Less pollution means better air quality for everyone.
In years to come Hybrid cars will play a major part in combating many of the problems currently faced by gas powered vehicles…..Namely oil dependence and pollution. One can only hope that these future cars will become better and faster…providing value to the consumer, the economy and the environment. Many experts believe this mode of transport is here to stay.
In Europe gas prices are a lot higher than in the US and running a car using water as fuel represents an enormous saving. NASA has the space shuttle, which uses hydrogen fuel cells to run electrical systems. Water is the main emission here.
It is also possible to convert a gas/petrol car to run on tap water

Lamborghini - A Ferrari Killer?
By: IC
Just like when talking about Ferrari, Lamborghini projects a clear image of power and wealth to those who own one of these super vehicles. This is an Italian company founded by Ferruccio Lamborghini in 1963, so it can be said that this car manufacturing company is fairly new, but it has kept an excellent quality and performance record which rivals that of Ferrari.
Unlike Ferrari's founder (Enzo Ferrari), Lamborghini's founded did not have a passion for racing cars like Enzo did, quite the contrary, Ferruccio Lamborghini had a tractor factory!. This tractor factory was indeed the financial base used to create the car company Lamborghini.
The origins of the company as told by Ferruccio Lamborghini's son is quite amazing. It turns out that Ferruccio went to meet Enzo Ferrari at his factory to complain about he quality of the clutch in the Ferrari 250 GT which he owned at the time (this is a sports car model of the 1950's). Enzo Ferrari then sent him away by telling him to go drive tractors because he didn't know how to drive cars. Lamborghini then had his Ferrari's clutch dismantled and realized that the clutch manufacturer was the same company which provided the clutches for his tractors!, Lamborghini then found a spare part in his warehouse which the thought might solve the problem and voila!, it did the job indeed. Ever since, Lamborghini became a dissatisfied Ferrari client and aimed to beat Ferrari in his own game.
Ferruccio then decided that his cars would have a V12 engine so he hired Giotto Bizzarrini who worked under Ferrari's engine development team in the past.
And as it turns out, Ferrari and Lamborghini are two automotive groups which are considered rival companies, and equivalents in quality as well as price.
Ever since its creation, Lamborghini has experienced continuous sales growth. It's cars are among the most powerful, expensive and exclusive in the world, they feature several exclusive characteristics such as high tech V10 - V12 engines, carbon fiber construction and custom styling by the most prestigious automotive designers such as: Franco Scaglione, Zagato, Marcello Gandini, etc.
Among the most recent popular models produced by this company we have: the V12 Lamborghini Diablo reaching a maximum speed of 330km/h; the V12 Lamborghini Murcielago; the V10 Gallardo; the V12 Murcielago LP640 and last but not the least the one of a kind Lamborghini Reventon debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto show. This vehicle manufacturer is without a doubt one of the best in the world.

Ferrari - The Ultimate Driving Machine
By: IC
When we hear someone talking about "Ferrari" the first thing that comes to mind is money. Ferrari S.p.A is an Italian sports car manufacturer, this company started by sponsoring drivers and race cars and in its origins it was never thought of or intended to manufacture their own line of high performance/quality vehicles.
This company doesn't count with the vast history other companies such as Ford count with but it nevertheless counts with an extremely high reputation, top quality standards and well known "super cars".
Today, Ferrari is a symbol of wealth among those who possess such outstanding driving machines. Price tags on these vehicles as we all know, are equivalent to full mortgages and in some cases even more. This company has been known by its active participation in Formula One racing where it has earned great status throughout the years of success.
Ferrari, as a company has been voted as one of the best companies to work for in Europe by the Financial Times, which is a British international business newspaper which comes in second to the Wall Street Journal. The founder of the company was Enzo Ferrari who died at the age of 90, in fact, one of the top models among Ferrari was named after himself "The Ferrari Enzo".

In Formula One, Ferrari is one of the oldest teams in the championship as well as one of the most successful, it holds several Formula one Records and fourteen World drivers championship titles. Among the most recognized drivers Ferrari had in their team we have: Felipe Massa (from Brazil), Michael Schumacher (Germany), Luigi Chinetti (Italy), Alain Prost (France), Eddie Irvine (Ireland), Rubens Barrichello (Brazil), Kimi Raikkonen (Finland), among many others.
Around mid 80's Ferrari classified cars according to their engine displacement such as: V6, V8 and V12; furthermore Ferraris were also classified according to their body style such as:
- "M" which stands for "modificata" meaning modified, an example of this type of car is the 575 Maranello.
- "GBT" which are closed berlinettas or coupes.
- "GTS" which are convertibles recently using the sufix "spider". Some examples of such vehicles are: F355 Spider (going from 0-100km in 4.7 seconds) and the Ferrari 360 Spider which can go from 0-62 mph in just 4.3 seconds using its 90 degree V8 F131 engine.
Examined from every angle, Ferrari as a brand, company and vehicle; is and will be a synonym of power, status and quality.

Do You Know The Factors That Make Fast Cars Fast?
By: Gregg Hall
When you ask someone if they had an open checkbook to buy any vehicle they wanted just about every serious car lover will choose a high quality sports car. Many people may debate what exactly encompasses the term of "high quality" but all will agree that when it comes to a sports car what matters the most is speed.
In sports car circles the car that is known as the fastest is the '94 Dauer 962 LeMans which blasts from zero to sixty miles per hour in only 2.6 seconds. Compare this to the Ferrari ENZO which is not only Ferrari's fastest car but also the one that most novices think of as the fastest at 3.5 seconds in the zero to sixty time. There are actually numerous other sports cars like the Corvette, Viper, and cars from Audi and Renault that are all at under 3.0 in the 0-60 testing.
So, the question for the car enthusiast is, "what is it that makes these fast cars so fast?"
The aerodynamic sleek styling that makes true sports cars so appealing to sports car lovers contributes much more than mere looks. This is also one of the primary reasons why these high performance cars are so fast, they are simply slippery against the wind resistance as they speed down the highway. This is why the designs of sports cars are tested in wind tunnels, so that the best possible drag coefficient can be achieved.
The weight of a car is another major factor in the speed of a sports car. This is the reason why race cars as well as high end sports cars are made of lightweight composite materials that help reduce the overall weight of a vehicle. Another thing that you will notice with sports cars is that they do not have large trunks or storage compartments. In fact, you are lucky to be able to fit a bag of golf clubs in the trunk or hatchback of a true sports car, in addition they usually only have two seats and have much firmer and tighter suspensions.
Lastly, the way a vehicle handles when cornering or going around curves is crucial as well. A true sports car must be able to keep up its straight-line speed when taking tight curves at high speeds. This is why the best of the high performance sports cars in the world are also rear wheel drive, the rear wheel drive set up makes for better weight distribution as the car is making turns.
All of the styling in the world won't matter if your car isn't fast, nothing is worse than a car that looks fast that isn't. To take a word from my son, they are posers.

A Look At The New Old Mustang-The Mustang With The Retro Body

Ford was smart to introduce its new Mustang and it was a good year for the 2005 Ford Mustang that made good sales in the sports car venue. The new Mustang GT, which came with V-8 power, started its pricing at $24,995 with a 300-hp motor. Even though this was the only car with a stock 300hp motor in its class any import tuner can put down more power then any mustang.
Perhaps one of the best selling and most notorious models of the Mustang is the V-6 model. The car is at almost 20 grand and comes with a V-6 motor. Ford has always given what the consumer wants but also hasn't given anything turbo charged yet that I have seen. Hopefully this new Mustang can give drivers what they are looking for in a car and if not they can resort to tuners which are and can be the best of the best. Here are some of the many details about the new Mustang that you won't see anywhere else.

Air-conditioning goes stock with the car and it also comes stock with a rear window defroster as well. Dual power locks and windows come stock in the new mustang.
The new Mustang comes with a 210-horse power motor that makes 4.0 liter SOHC V-6 engine. Probably produces around 200 feet pounds of torque. Also comes stock with a 5 speed manual transmission also can be bought in automatic with electronic overdrive.

Ford also provides the system in which if involved in an accident the air bags will automatically deploy to try and save your life. The buyer or owner can add anything they wish to the car to make it unique. It is advised that you customize the car and make it the way you want it.
Even though there is the Mustang there are many other cars that are beyond what the Mustang can give you. The Supra is a good one, 240sx with a swapped motor is a good one there are a number of cars that you can buy to compensate with a mustang. Like the Nissan Skyline comes with a rb26dett stock and produces over 270 horse power stock and over 280 feet pounds of torque without any upgrades.

2008 Audi A6 Sedan Review

A mid-size luxury car, the Audi A6 is offered as both a sedan and a wagon. The wagon is called A6 Avant.
Price:
Starting price: $ 42,950.00
The Audi A6 falls somewhere in the middle of the luxury car category. It costs a little more than its peers in the premium Japanese markets, but less than the competing German-brand models. Re-sale value for the Audi is a bit lower than cars from Audi’s chief German competitors. So consumers planning to purchase a second hand A6 will find a relatively affordable proposition.
Like other Audis, the A6 is one of the most luxurious cars available in its price range even when compared to its huge and exclusive European competition in the current automobile industry. According to recent trends, performance generally comes after luxury. But, Audi has offered a range of turbocharged and direct-injection engines over the years which have given the car plenty of personality. Along with its reputation for upscale accommodations, the A6's main selling point is its winter-weather capability. Nearly all A6s are sold with the quattro all-wheel drive system which distributes power to all four wheels, though Audi typically offers an entry-level front-wheel-drive model as well.
There are 3 generations of the Audi A6 to consider. The current generation, which dates to 2005, offers by far the best package of attention-getting style, entertaining driving dynamics and sparkling furnishings. The second generation A6, available from 1998 to 2004, was also a fine luxury car, though its handling characteristics and exterior design never really set it apart from the multitude of excellent sedans and wagons in this price range.
With its clean lines and over-sized grille, the current Audi A6 is one of the most distinctive mid-size luxury cars on the market. The A6 Avant is also one of the few mid-size luxury wagons on the market, and with a 34-cubic-foot cargo bay behind its rear seat, it makes a practical yet elegant choice for families with a large dog or double stroller in tow.

Enhancements:
The A6 can be equipped with all the usual luxury car appointments, including a high-end audio system, voice-activated navigation system and Bluetooth wireless capability. Most are accessed via Audi's easy-to-use Multi-Media Interface (MMI) vehicle management system. It sounds complicated, but with its logical menus and ergonomically designed, all-in-one control knob, MMI is a snap to learn.
Performance:
The Audi A6 is available with either a V6 or V8 engine. The engines are smooth and refined, though the V6 is taxed by the A6's 4,000-pound curb weight. Acceleration is certainly passable, but most other V6-equipped luxury cars are quicker. The A6 rides comfortably on the highway, and while it's not the most athletic car in its class, our editors like its predictable, nimble feel through the corners.
The second-generation A6 sedan arrived on the market in 1998 and benefited from a ground-up redesign; an all-new version of the Avant wagon debuted the following year. This was the first Audi A6 to ride on a stretched version of the highly regarded A4 platform, and the two have been platform mates ever since. For the first two years, only a naturally aspirated V6 was available, but in 2000, Audi added a spirited twin-turbocharged V6 and a torque-rich V8 to the engine lineup for the sedan. Given that acceleration tended to be sluggish with the base V6, particularly on the hefty A6 Avant quattro wagon, Audi began offering a larger, more powerful six-cylinder in 2002. Additionally, the company introduced a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) on front-wheel-drive models that year.
The original A6 came to market in 1995 as a lightly revised version of the old Audi 100 sedan and wagon. Although prices on used A6 models from this era are convincingly low, consumers should be aware that only one engine -- a 172-horsepower V6 -- is available on these cars. With the lightest A6 sedan weighing in at 3,400 pounds, acceleration is modest at best. However, much like newer Audis, this A6 was nicely appointed and offered a choice of front-wheel drive or quattro all-wheel drive.
India to make Hyundai i10 for the world
In its most aggressive launch in the Indian market since the Santro eight years ago, Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) unveiled the much-awaited compact car i10 which will cost Rs 3.39 lakh with a boom and of course Shahrukh Khan.

The new car is expected to be a major volume player for the Korean car maker and may surpass the Santro (2 lakh cars were sold annually in India, as well as exported) in the next two years.
The i10 will be available in 10 colours. It will be exported to over 70 countries, Jae Kook Choi, president, Hyundai Motor Company, told reporters at the launch function for the i10.
Hyundai aims to sell about 2,00,000 units (i10, Santro and Getz together) in Asia, Europe, West Asia as well as other regions next year.
All reports regarding the issue that Hyundai may stop making the popular Santro (available in seven variants in a price band of Rs 2.9 lakh to Rs 4.18 lakh), are wrong. The i10 is positioned as a car for people who are looking to upgrade their existing car.
Placed in the compact segment, i10 will take on popular car models from the Maruti stable including Wagon R LX (Rs 3.31 lakh), Zen Estilo (Rs 3.24 lakh) and Tata’s Indica V2 Xeta (Rs 3.49 lakh). All prices are from an ex-showroom in Delhi.
According to figures made available by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Hyundai Motor’s car exports gained 14 per cent to 67,625 units between April and September this year, constituting 68 per cent of all car exports from India in the half-year period.

Ford Mustang - Fast Sport Cars
By: IC
Ford is a well known brand across the world, it owns 33% of Mazda known by its modern cars featured in films such as the Fast and the Furious, Jaguar, Aston Martin and many others. From its many car models, one of the most famous is the Mustang. Manufactured and engineered to be a muscle car, this particular car model stands away from the rest by it unique design and power. The best part is that due to this model's reputation the company keeps improving and redesigning it to deliver a high quality driving machine every single time.
Ford Mustangs are highly customizable sport cars and in recent years have shown many modifications to its design. The wheelbase in both versions (convertible and coupe) are 101.3 inches, the curb weight varies just a tiny bit from the convertible to the coupe models, the curb weight of a mustang 2 door convertible is 3257 pounds while the two door coupe is 3077 pounds. As far as fuel capacity both models, convertible and coupe can hold up to 15.4 gallons. Both models can comfortably accommodate 4 passengers.
As far as design, second and third Mustang generations were not as good as the first one but the machinery quality improved. Second and third generations range from 1974-1993. During the 1980s Mustangs were going through a hard transition when Ford announced that they would replace the rear-wheel drive Mustang with a Mazda-derived four wheel drive version, luckily for them and its clients the fourth generation of Mustangs came along, this generation of fords is almost as welcomed as the first due to the significant redesign this model went through.
The 1994 Mustang coupe was starting to show signs of potential and greatness but it wasn't until 1995 when the GTS model was introduced to the market. In 1996 Mustang's engine went through a major upgrade, this is when the Windsor 5.0 L engine was replaced by 215 horse power 4.6L SOHC Modular V8 engine and in 1998 the SOHC engine was increased to 225 HP through aggressive PCM calibration a larger exhaust and a modified fuel system.
As far as power, the 3.8 V6 engine sent developed 145-190 horsepower, the GT 5.0L V8 sends 240 hp to the back axle.
In 1994-2004 models Mustang GT's power was increased to 260hp and consumers have loved this car ever since, that's not even mentioning the awesome "MODs" available which include new decals, bumpers, paint work, rims, etc. Not only it is extremely reliable and stylish but many consumers have reported that it's stereo system beats any other manufacturer-installed car stereo in the market, it has an extremely good bass, the midrange is perfectly set as well as the highs.
Aston Martin is also an outstanding fast and high end Ford-owned driving machine which delivers great power, speed and style but that's another article.

Rolls Royce Phantom Silver Honors Silver Ghosts
By: Terry Parker
In regard to the formation of the worlds first true luxury automaker, Rolls Royce, who received top billing, the businessman or the designer? Businessman Charles Rolls came first with second billing going to engineer Henry Royce.
Charles and Henry agreed that Rolls company would exclusively sell all vehicles made by Royce. Rolls Royce Motor Cars made its official debut in 1904 at the Paris Salon. Perhaps Royce Rolls sounded too much like a pun or a criticism than an appropriate nomenclature for a fledgling car manufacturer. Shortly thereafter Royce designed vehicles were ruling the roadways.
The first Rolls Royce made was a 10 horsepower, two cylinder vehicle with a top speed of 39 mph. By 1906 the automaker had a vehicle with three chassis styles and six cylinder inline engines capable of exceeding 50 mph.
The first Rolls Royce with an enclosed backseat, the Pullman by Barker, also was introduced at that time. Rolls Royce elevated its status to a producer of elite vehicles with the Silver Ghost in 1907. It was the first reliable and smooth riding manufactured. It set a world record for a non stop motor run, traveling an astonishing 14,371 miles.
The most popular body types of the most elite car of the era were the enclosed Barker cabriolet, the Barker Tourer, the Hooper Landaulet, and the London Edinburg. The fabled vehicle first gained notoriety when it was entered into the 1907 Scottish Reliability Run, winning the gold medal in its class for hill climbing and reliability.
Silver Ghosts were manufactured from 1907 to 1925. It is astonishing that the majority of the 6,000 Silver Ghosts built still run well today. Aside from Rolls Royce, how many automakers today would dare say their cars could be driven 100 years from now?
Rolls Royce has produced 25 Phantom Silvers to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Silver Ghost. The Phantom Silvers bespoke paint color is Metallic Ghost Silver. The interior of the limited edition comes in rose leaf or cream light leather. The RR logo is embroidered into both the piping and the headrests.
Eco friendly Santos Palisander rosewood is used throughout the cabin. The varied grain rosewood also is used for a presentation box that holds the key, two solid silver key fobs and a specially commissioned Conway Stewart fountain pen. The LCD screen for the navigational system is strategically concealed behind the clock in the dashboard to preserve the car's classic decorum.
Beneath the hood of this refined vehicle is a fuel injected V12 engine with 48 valves that accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. Its top speed is 149 mph. The sedan has a maintenance free six speed transmission and speed sensitive rack andpinion steering.
The Phantom Silver sets on 21 inch alloy wheels with chrome centers. The Spirit of Ecstasy, which has been the automakers traditional grille ornament since 1911, is solid silver. It is retractable for security purposes.
Rolls Royce produced automobiles and aero engines until 1971. Bleak financial circumstances forced the firm into receivership and the divisions became separate companies. The BMW Group has been the owner of the Rolls Royce line since 1998. While many other brands have strived and risen to attain recognition, Rolls Royce Motor Company possessed such panache from its inception.

What are Hybrid Automotives?
By: Luigi Castagna
The vehicles that use two power sources in conjunction with one another are called hybrid automotives or hybrid vehicles. The history of hybrid power technology is very old. It dates back to the time when diesel electric submarines were first used.
The idea is quite simple, use two power sources to increase the overall efficiency.
Now the question arises that why it was needed. The answer is simple, it was realized that an average person would not be able to afford gasoline in the near future. CO2 emissions will also increase similarly an average person does not require a V8, he/she just needs enough power to reach his destination in time. A V8 as well as a small vehicle can accomplish this. So the hybrid vehicle was introduced.
How it works?
The hybrid vehicle works by using electric as well as gasoline power. Diesel electric vehicles are also there but there numbers are quite low. The hybrid vehicle works by using electric power when the requirement for engine power is low for example when starting the vehicle and up to the speed of 30-40 mph as the electric source cannot run a vehicle by itself.
What is the basic idea behind Hybrid automotives?
The basic idea is to use a smaller lightweight engine to run a vehicle up to a required speed and when the car has to accelerate then the electric source can add some extra power to gain more speed. As a 1.0 liter engine can also move at 75 mph just like a V8 although the V8 has more acceleration power so why waste fuel on a muscle car when a 1.0-liter vehicle can work for you.
Types of Gasoline Hybrid Vehicles
There are two main types of gasoline hybrid vehicles: parallel hybrid car and series hybrid car. The series hybrid car uses the gasoline engine to turn a generator that can either charge the batteries or run an electric motor whereas the parallel hybrid car can combine the two power sources to give more power or the same amount of power but with a better mileage.
Body Structure of Hybrid Vehicles
Now the question arises how the hybrid vehicle can deliver these types of performances when they have such a small engine. They do so by using lightweight materials like carbon fiber composites, low-rolling resistance tires and advanced aerodynamics to reduce drag. The hybrids can even turn the gasoline engine off when not needed such as when stopping at traffic lights. Some vehicles even use the electric power to gain a speed of 30 to 40 KM/h. Some vehicles also use regenerative braking. By this method when breaks are applied, the car decreases the speed by cutting some amount of power. This power is then used by the generator to generate electric power that can be stored for later use.
The price of these vehicles start from 23000$ and they reach up to 54000$. There are some hybrid SUVs are also available in the market.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4

By: Jan Hvizdak
Following four long years of design and development and it’s forerunner 1999 EB 18/4 Veyron, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, the fastest legally-produced car which can be seen on roads very rarely, was finally ready for manufacture in 2004. Billed as the most exclusive sports car ever, the Veyron follows the example of its Bugatti predecessors – the limousines and racecars of the twenties and thirties, which are now among the most desirable classic cars available. The Veyron is the culmination of almost a decade of concept cars and design models, and concept became reality in the form of a limited production of 300 cars.
Performance overview
The outstanding performance, speed and acceleration of the new Bugatti demand safety systems to match. The single-piece unibody construction is made from carbon fibre, and achieves maximum marks in crash tests. This is complemented by both driver and passenger airbags for extra protection. High-speed tyres have been specifically designed for the Veyron to cope with speeds of over 350 km/h, and are fitted with a PAX system to guarantee safety in handling, even under sudden loss of pressure. The rear spoiler also provides an extra safety feature, acting not only as a source of downforce, but also as an extra braking function during emergency stops. When specific braking forces are applied, the spoiler changes position to provide extra air resistance. The Veyron’s braking distance is subsequently comparable to that of a lorry.
The Powerhouse

The Veyron’s W16 (16 cylinder engine with 4 banks) alloy engine occupies a unique position in the history of sports car manufacture. Its special design uses the VR principle – a space-saving technique that employs two slim, eight-cylinder blocks sitting perpendicular to each other.
The new Bugatti boasts 1001 horsepower, providing acceleration which is unparalleled amongst its rivals: 0-60 mph in 3 seconds, and 0-200 mph in an astonishing 14 seconds. With torque peaking at 923 lb/ft, the Veyron’s incredible power allows it to reach a maximum speed of 252.3 mph (406 km/h).
The Veyron’s directshift gearbox is also a unique feature of this vehicle. The 7-speed sequential gearbox transfers power to the wheels through a permanent 4x4 system. This results in acceleration from standstill to top speed without interruption – previously unheard of in the automobile industry. However, 4x4 isn’t as perfect as X-Drive from BMW.
Interior Styling

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4’s cabin is both luxurious and practical. It features high-quality leather upholstery (optional two-tone upholstery), magnificent metallic trim and controls which are carefully designed and laid-out for maximum comfort and accessibility.
Bugatti’s motor sport heritage is also evoked by the instrument panel, which features a central rev counter, around which can be found four smaller instruments. Unnecessary extras are deliberately avoided, further cementing the Veyron’s genuine sportiness.
The classic Bugatti two-tone paintwork remains unchanged on the Veyron 16.4. Five different colour combinations are available for the car. In every combination, the darker colour is used for the bonnet, roof and rear of the vehicle, and the lighter colour for the sides and front wheel arches.

BMW Prepares for 2008
By: Allweb
BMW has done well in manufacturing limited series of models, which are the odd numbered and even numbered series. Among these you will be able to find the saloon sedan and the estate wagon on one hand and the coupes and cabriolets on the other. Examples of such limited series of cars are the 6 Series and the 8 Series of BMWs, the later being launched in 1989. More recent examples include the Z3 and the Z4. The Z3 and the Z4 are roadsters available in two door convertible and two door coupe models. If you are wondering where you have seen the Z3 before, the answer is simple: in the James Bond movie Golden Eye. The 5 Series BMWs are the most recent examples of limited series cars. These are mid sized luxury cars or executive cars and can be bought in sedan and touring body styles. The model has been around ever since 1972, but each year BMW has added a plus of technique and charm making them sturdy and attractive at the same time.
Some of the future models for BMW include the Z10. The Z10 is meant to be an improvement of the Z8, which is presently a two seat, two door convertible car. The Z10 was announced to appear in 2008 and will feature a V10 engine of 550 horse power.
In case you love the sports cars, BMW has a surprise in stock for you: it is called the BMW V/F3 and will be a sports tourer or the V/F5.
Another future model of BMW is the Z2, which will be a roadster and coupe with a 4 cylinder engine and it is out 2009. The F01 and F02 Series are for those that like the 7-series BMWs and will be around starting from 2008. Are you a Rolls fan? Then you must be aware that a Baby Roller is coming up from BMW and this will be a miniature Rolls Royce.
